Gum Disease Treatment

Bacteria in plaque may produce toxins and poisons that irritate the gums. The gums become swollen and red bleeding easily. Overtime, the toxins cause more and more destruction around the teeth.

Periodontal Disease

The destruction of tissue around the teeth is known as Periodontal Disease. This disease causes loss of bone that the teeth sit in. If left untreated, the affected teeth can become lose and eventually lost. Treatment initially involves deep cleanings (or scaling and debridement) to remove the plaque and calculus that has built up over time. Additional treatment may be necessary to create a healthy smile again.
